Marula Oil

Marula Oil is harvested in the north central regions of Namibia.
The fruit of the marula tree is traditionally used by the Oshivambo people to make juice, beer and oil, and women predominately harvest the marula fruit. The women that collect and harvest the marula fruit are part of a co-operative called Eudafano Women’s Co-operative (EWC).

Marula oil is extracted from the kernels of the fruit. The fruit is collected and the kernel extracted by the women. The kernels are then taken to the EWC factory in Ondangwa where they are processed by cold pressing them to extract the oil.

Marula oil is rich in linoleic fatty acid, antioxidants and oleic acid, which are essential for the preservation of healthy skin. The oil is easily absorbed into the skin and naturally softens, nourishes and revitalizes

Kalahari Melon Seed Oil

Kalahari Melon Seed Oil comes from the seed of the Kalahari melon (citrullus lanatus), also known as the Tsamma melon or wild watermelon.
The fruit is also wild harvested by the members of the Eudafano Women’s Co-operative. This oil is also processed at the community-owned factory in Ondangwa.

Kalahari Melon is an excellent source of omega-6 essential fatty acids and brings the additional benefit of high phytosterol content.

The rich yellow oil of Kalahari melon seeds has been used traditionally in Southern Africa as a moisturizer and food source.

Namibian Myrrh essential oil

During periods of extreme drought, the Commiphora wildii plant naturally exudes a precious amber coloured resin. This resin is steam distilled to extract the essential oil.
The Himba women of Kaokoland wild harvest the resin and use it as an ingredient in their traditional perfume.

The women now commercially harvest “Omumbiri” and are paid per kilogram collected. The resin is sent to the processing facility in Opuwo, which is owned by the conservancies in the area.

“Omumbiri” is an uplifting and relaxing middle note. The aroma is fresh, smooth, and slightly spicy. It is believed that Namibian Myrrh can be Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory and a calming or relaxing oil.
